What's on in Meander Valley
Our beautiful region is lucky to have some fantastic local attractions for people from of all walks of life, age and ability!
For the adventurous there's the awe-some Mole Creek Caves, Liffey Falls, Trowunna Wildlife Park (where you can see a Tassie Devil up close, and maybe even feed one!) the Westbury maze and plenty of hiking tracks ranging in scenery and difficulty. For the foodie, there is an abundance of flavours to try and plenty of picturesque, undulating landscapes to take in on your way to well known restaurants and eateries like the popular Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm, Ashgrove Cheese, Cycles Restuarant, 41 degrees South Salmon farm, Deloraine Deli and so many more... What's more, with regular markets in Westbury, Mole Creek and Deloraine we're absolutely spoilt for choice with fresh, homegrown produce.
Farming, food and adventures aside, the creativity in the community extends a welcome hand to those that visit - with clean landscapes and works of art both large and small adding to the idyllic setting that is Meander Valley, the communities that make up our region are proud custodians of our rich land.
In honour of our region, Meander Valley plays host to some massive events each year - including AgFest, the state's largest agricultural event. Held over 3 consecutive days, the event draws thousands of people into the area to a showcase of all things farming and food.
An accolade attributed to Deloraine and the state's north is the annual event, the Tasmanian Craft Fair. For a quaint town situated between Devonport and Launceston, our numbers grow expontenitally every year as people drift to Deloraine to enjoy a collaboration of fine food, drink, artwork and many unique, handmade items - whether they be local clothing or something scented to style your home, there's something for everyone at the fair that we're so lucky to call home to at Deloraine.
Now, returning to my hometown as an adult, I have a renewed respect and appreciation of the town I grew up in. The events, the community spirit and involvement are synonymous to the great culture we have in the region, returning to Deloraine and seeing the changes in region now compared to 10 years ago really highlights the growth and development we've dedicated to making the region a place that people want to visit. - Selena Lowe
